Sawobali

Sawobali Cake Shop and Vegan Gluten Free Buffet! Its fairly close to the Monkey Forest, offering several dishes, some quite spicy. The food is OK, nothing special, but value enough at only 50K IDR for buffet. There’s also cakes and ice cream options!

Fina’s 2 Vietnamese

Head to Fina’s for your Vietnamese kick, including noodles, stir fry and of course vegan pho! The cafe also sells juices, smoothies, and alcoholic beverages including vegan wine and beers, and cakes! The cakes are actually what stopped us when walking past, very well presented and quite tasty, if not maybe a little too sweet (like many vegan cakes), they had gluten free offerings too. The menu has icons indicating if the dish is vegan or not.

Green Dot

Green Dot offers a mix of Healthy Vegetarian Asian and Western inspired dishes, in a sort of healthy-fast-food format. At the top of Paya Lebar Square, Green dot is bright and cheerful, and busy every time we visit. The new branch at WestGate is also popular and a needed addition to the west side. They have some tasty food on offer, including Bento sets, Mushroom Pots, Salads, Burgers and Curries. They also have a Tea Bar, and desserts from Delcie’s and Brown Rice Ice Cream! The ice-cream cakes are quite good.

It seems like the owners are still figuring this place out a little, adjusting the menu and slightly confused over which meals are and are not vegan, dairy vs coconut milk etc, but they are trying. They were welcome to suggestions and feed back and they have updated their menus once already and added a vegan burger. So just check when ordering to be sure.

Delcie’s Cakes

There are a few cafes offering vegan and even gluten free cake slices in Singapore, but at Delcie’s its their specialty. All of the cakes are vegan, and they have options for diabetics (no added sugar), gluten free and without nuts too! The cakes themselves are quite rich and can be a little heavy, but very tasty (I’ve only tried the gluten free ones). You can buy whole cakes at various sizes, cupcakes, cookies etc.

They come well presented in portable packaging, and you can get custom text, images, candles etc when ordering. You can even order it frozen so you can collect early and let it thaw overnight for optimum freshness. Get it delivered or pick up at Boon Keng.

Warning these cakes are not cheap, prices ranging from S$40 for 5×5″ vegan cake up to S$250 for 10×10″ gluten free version. But vegan gluten-free cakes aren’t that easy to come by, especially at this quality. So if you feel like splurging for a birthday check out the big range on offer here. And of course cupcakes and Muffins etc are obviously cheaper and good for single desserts.

Living Cafe & Deli

Living Cafe is a great cafe with lots of Raw, Vegan and Gluten-Free options! It is not entirely vegetarian but the range on offer is pretty good. The vegan tofu burger and wedges were great and they have a few v-g-f cakes too! The staff weren’t all that knowledgeable on item specifics but they are friendly and happy enough to check with the chef. The cafe has a chilled atmosphere with a lot of space and light.

Take a bus from Botanic Gardens MRT, or its a 30min walk from there.

Ideal Patisserie

The Queen of Patisseries in Mexico, Pasteleria Ideal is almost a tourist sight as much as a bakery. The store is huge, the ground floor offers a range of cookies, breads, pastries and cakes, while the second floor is a display of monstrous cakes, up to and over 100kgs & multiple tiers (mostly icing!). Unfortunately there aren’t many vegan options here, but vegetarians will love it, and I’m sure you can find something if you ask.

For the pastries, take a tray, make your selection, and get in line to pay. For the biscuits, you must get a ticket for the bag size and pay for it before making your selection.

Ms. Cupcake

Ms Cupcake’s Cupcakes are incredibly cute, tasty, and totally vegan. She also sometimes has Gluten Free options. Hell, you could almost buy these just for decoration! But they taste way too good to just let them sit there! The shop is in Brixton but you can often find her cupcakes at Veg*n events and large orders are possible!
