Chinese New Year, London

Chinese New Year is a celebration of the Lunar New Year, usually in late January or early February. London’s Chinese community puts on a great festival each year, with traditional performances, food, fireworks, decorations and more.

The main celebration is usually on the first weekend after the new year, and covers a huge area with the Lion Dancers visiting the shops in Chinatown, the parade going along Shaftesbury Avenue and down to Trafalgar Square where there is a large stage for the performances, and fireworks in Leicester Square.

It’s great fun but just beware Chinatown gets very, very crowded during this period.
Walk from Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross or Leicester Square Station.

This video gives you an idea of the awesome fireworks display!
